Approach

Vivian Shao Chen is an interior architect and designer. She has over 15 years of architectural training and professional experience. She focuses on residential interiors and lifestyle design, including home goods and clothing.

Vivian's extensive training and experience as an architect uniquely position her to envision and create comprehensive spaces that seamlessly blend architecture, interiors, and decor. Her passion for interior design is the culmination of a lifetime dedicated to creative expression across various mediums and scales. No matter the project, the work always stems from the notion of “elevating the everyday”— finding beauty and joy in the mundane. Working in interior design provides a tangible practice through which she can meld all her many interests and past lives.

Her pursuits in various design fields — architecture, interiors, pottery, sewing, and patternmaking — all come from an endless search for understanding of who we are authentically. She believes that there is true contentment that comes out of understanding one’s self, and that our built environment is a critical piece to telling one’s story.

Vivian holds a Masters of Architecture from Cornell University and a Bachelors of Science in Architecture from McGill University. Her professional experience includes working at several nationally and internationally renowned architectural firms.
